Borealis illumination technology for multifocal confocal microscopy from Andor Technology (Belfast, Northern Ireland) raises illumination of Yokogawa's (Tokyo, Japan) CSU10, 21, 22 and X1 scan heads, improving uniformity and throughput 10X and 2X, respectively, and extending the excitation wavelength range to 400–750 nm. Features include a flexible bellows attachment to the microscope for strain-free alignment and field lens tubes to allow adjustment of effective pinhole size, allowing CSU systems to be used with lower magnification objectives.
