The Road Runner polygon scanner from Precision Laser Scanning (Scottsdale, AZ) scans at 70,000 RPM, and features a sealed optical window to eliminate noise and contamination. The scanner, which has uses in optical coherence tomography (OCT), microscopy, and ophthalmology, has a 72-facet polygon with an inscribed diameter of 2.5 in. and a 0.25 in. thickness. It is rated for 200,000 start/stop cycles or 50,000 hours.
