Fused fiber-optic faceplates protect complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) sensors in medical imaging systems.
Fused fiber-optic faceplates from SCHOTT North America (Elmsford, NY) protect complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) sensors in medical imaging systems used in hospitals, dentist offices, and radiology centers. The faceplates simultaneously transfer the image as it reaches the sensors and protect the CMOS chips from degradation (radiation) to extend the lifespan of the sensors. The faceplates are manufactured with fiber-optic elements ranging from 6 to 25 µm in diameter. Various sizes and shapes are available, including as large as 430 × 430 mm.
