Agreement forms to test medical diagnostic device designs using nonlinear optical polymers

Lightwave Logic has entered into an agreement with FiberLogix International to begin developing and testing of proprietary fiber-optic medical diagnostic devices incorporating Lightwave Logic's advanced nonlinear optical polymers.

Lightwave Logic (Newark, DE) has entered into an agreement with FiberLogix International (Watford, England) to begin developing and testing of proprietary fiber-optic medical diagnostic devices incorporating Lightwave Logic's advanced nonlinear optical polymers.

FiberLogix will design all-fiber solutions incorporating fiber manufacturing and side polish technologies. The technique involves processing fiber to make a waveguide in the sidewall, according to Shafiq Parwaz, director of technical applications for FiberLogix. Parwaz also notes that the basic platform has had success in sensing and measuring hydrogen, and combining that success with Lightwave Logic's optical polymers could yield—in mass production and at a low cost—biomedical sensors and create other applications like sensors for infectious agents.
