Nominations open for 2019-2020 Cancer Community Awards

The Cancer Community (C2) Awards recognize individuals and organizations who have created positive change in cancer care.

The Cancer Community (C2) Awards, which are given through a partnership between AstraZeneca and Scientific American Custom Media, are now open for 2019-2020 nominations through November 15, 2019. The awards recognize individuals and organizations who have created positive change in cancer care, and include nominations submitted by organizations from across the cancer ecosystem and participation from an esteemed panel of third-party judges.

The C2 Awards are given in the following four categories:

C2 Catalyst for Change. Nominees in this category made a difference in bringing science and innovation in cancer care to patients in underserved communities.

C2 Catalyst for Care. Individuals and organizations recognized in this category focused on making the experience of cancer care easier for patients.

C2 Catalyst for Precision Medicine. This category celebrates those expanding the boundaries for how to personalize care and ensure the right patients are getting the right medications at the right time.

President’s Award. Sole criteria is making a tangible and inspiring difference in the lives of patients or their loved ones.

The general rules for nominations are as follows:

  • Nominations must be received by 5 p.m. ET on Friday, November 15, 2019.
  • Nominees must be based in the United States.
  • Nominators may nominate themselves, their own organization, or another person or organization.
  • Nominators may nominate up to five individuals or organizations per category; each nomination will require its own form. 

A $50,000 donation will be provided to each winner to “pay forward” to a nonprofit organization that serves the cancer community. Winners will also be honored at an event in New York City in spring 2020 and be featured by various media outlets, including Scientific American.
