Adaptive optics-based retinal camera receives CE mark approval

Cellular-level retinal imaging specialist Imagine Eyes (Orsay, France) has received CE mark approval to market its rtx1 Adaptive Optics Retinal Camera in Europe.

This marks the first time that an instrument designed to image the retina at the cellular scale has received regulatory approval for use by clinical ophthalmologists, explains Imagine Eyes' CEO Nicolas Chateau. The camera enables retinal visualization with unprecedented detail in the clinic, allowing clinicians to observe many of the cellular and microvascular structures that can be affected by the diseases that threaten the vision of millions of people every year, he says.
