Alma Lasers selects Henry Schein Medical to distribute laser platform for nail fungus treatment

Alma Lasers (Buffalo Grove, IL) has chosen Henry Schein Medical (Melville, NY) to help launch and distribute the company's Harmony ClearChoice Q-switched laser platform for nail restoration. The platform, which just gained FDA clearance, temporarily increases clear nails in patients who have onychomycosis, commonly known as nail fungus.

As nail fungus is embedded within the nail and therefore difficult to reach, the company's 1064 nm, Q-switched, Nd:YAG laser platform targets the fungus located deep beneath the nail bed. The module fires short bursts of higher energy and quickly heats a focused spot on the nail bed, allowing for concentration in areas where the fungus lives and slowly heating the entire nail bed to kill the yeast organisms responsible for the nail infection.

Harmony ClearChoice will be offered through Henry Schein Medical's Foot and Ankle business.
