Oriel cameras and enhanced software for spectroscopy applications


The InstaSpec ISX CCD and ISX IR scientific cameras from Oriel, a Newport brand, are both designed for spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy. The ISX CCD features a back-illuminated CCD sensor with a 1024 × 122 pixel array and operates from 200 – 1100 nm, while the ISX IR features an InGaAs linear array with a 50-µm pitch and operates from 800 – 1700 nm. Both cameras are thermoelectrically cooled and bundled with InstaSpec Pro software, and include dual gain control settings and integrated digital signal processing (DSP).



Oriel® Introduces Two High Performance Scientific Cameras and Enhanced Software for Spectroscopy Applications

Stratford, CT – Oct. 25, 2010 – Oriel®, a Newport Corporation Brand, introduces two high performance scientific cameras, the InstaSpec® ISX CCD and the InstaSpec ISX IR.  The cameras are available with new InstaSpec Pro™ software which provides complete system control of single or dual camera configurations and all the functions of any Oriel spectrograph.  The output from one or two cameras can be joined via Oriel’s proprietary “stitch and glue” function to provide a single graphic display output of the acquired spectrum.  This unique capability, along with comprehensive data management and manipulation functions, provide ease of use. The data format permits easy export to other packages for additional or enhanced post-processing tasks. The intuitive InstaSpec Pro software features auto-calibration for the spectrograph and the installed cameras, plus extensive integrated pop-up help to facilitate setup.

The InstaSpec ISX CCD camera features a back illuminated CCD sensor with a 1024 x 122 pixel array (24 x 24µm pixel size).  This affordable scientific camera is designed for operation in the 200 - 1100 nm spectral range, making it ideal for spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS), emission, reflectance, and multi-stripe absorbance applications.

The InstaSpec ISX IR scientific camera is designed with an indium gallium arsenide (InGaAs) linear array (1 x 256 pixels) with a 50-micron pitch that operates in the (800 - 1700 nm) spectral range. The high performance line scan detector is ideally suited for scanning applications in the infrared, such as spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy.

Both the InstaSpec ISX CCD and the ISX IR cameras feature high resolution and high dynamic range.  They are thermoelectrically-cooled (TE air-cooled) and, bundled with Oriel’s InstaSpec Pro software, produce a powerful spectrograph.  Other camera features include dual gain control settings, integrated digital signal processing (DSP), and both use standard USB 2.0 high speed interfaces, which conveniently eliminates the need for custom interface cards.
